Quick answer: Look on the bottom or inside of the laptop, look in Windows system information, look in the system bios, search the serial number on the manufacturers website.

1. Locate by Product Label.

2. Locate laptop model using Windows.

  1. In Windows, click on the Start Menu.
  2. Click on Search.
  3. Type “Information” or “msinfo” and select the best match.
  4. Under “System Model”, you will locate the model for your laptop.
  5. If needed, CPU version is listed under “Processor”.
    • Example: Intel Core i5-8250U would be listed as “Intel Core i5” or “Intel Core i5 8th Gen” in our database.

3. Locate laptop model in the device's Bios.

Entering a laptops bios can be somewhat tricky, but is a very reliable source to locate the model of your laptop. We have created some simple guides on how to enter your laptop’s bios below:

This first method of entering a laptops bios requires using a standard Windows 10 installation.

  1. In Windows, click on the Start Menu.
  2. Click on Search.
  3. Type “Change Advanced Startup Options” and select the best match.
  4. Under Advanced startup click “Restart Now”.
  5. Click the option “Troubleshoot”.
  6. Click “Advanced Options”.
  7. Click “UEFI Firmware Settings” and restart when prompted
  8. Under “Product Name”, you will locate the model for your laptop

The second method of entering a laptops bios requires hitting the correct key on your laptop while the laptop is booting up.

  1. Power off your laptop.
  2. Power on your laptop.
  3. Immediately after powering on the laptop, while the device is booting, continuously tap the laptop bios key for your laptop brand below:
  • Acer: F2 or Delete
  • Alienware: F2
  • ASUS: F2
  • Dell: F2 or F12
  • Gateway: F1 or F2
  • Gigabyte: F2 or Delete
  • HP: F10
  • Lenovo: Enter Key
  • MSI: Delete
  • Microsoft Surface: Press and hold volume up button.
